1964 LAND ROVER 109 - NO ENGINE

1964 LAND ROVER 109 DETAILS

This 1964 Land Rover LHD 109 4-door Series IIA station wagon is a non-running project finished in green over black vinyl. It was acquired by Blacksmith Garage without an engine or a transmission in September of 2016 as a build donor.

We had planned to swap in a Cummins 4 BT with a ZF five speed manual transmission and an LT230 transfer case which we had previously installed on our ANV-LR1 Defender 110 build (https://www.blacksmithgarage.com/anv-lr1).

However, customer builds got in the way and although we look at her longingly across the shop floor, it is time to send her to a builder who has the time to make her all she can be.

Equipment includes a safari roof, white 16″ steel wheels with Dunlop Grandtrek LT235/85R16 tires, alpine windows, front and rear bench seating, sliding side glass, side steps on all four doors and the rear access door, a receiver hitch, a spare tire mount on the hood and an overhead cargo area with a rear ladder for roof access.

In terms of condition, obviously this is a restoration candidate.

In our opinion …

The frame is not in need of replacement but will need some minor repairs.

On the body … There is evidence of some previous repair on the bulkhead and the doors.

And, as you can see in the photos there is evidence of small dents, scratches and galvanic corrosion typical of an unrestored Series Land Rover.

Similarly, the interior shows wear and tear.

Overall, this will make for a fantastic project.  That’s why we bought her in the first place.

This long-wheelbase Series IIA is now offered at no reserve with a clean Florida title.

Instrumentation includes a 75-mph speedometer and set of combination gauges indicating amperage, fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 31,230 miles, though the true mileage is unknown.

The factory 2.25-liter inline-four and four-speed manual transmission have been removed, presenting the next owner with the opportunity to return the truck to stock configuration or fit a drivetrain of their choosing.
