1970 HUSQVARNA 400
Bengt Aberg raced the 400 cross to win the 1969 and 1970 500cc World Championships. The bike offered precise handling and incredible horsepower making it an incredible motocross bike. The bike features a 396cc air-cooled engine with a 4-speed gearbox.
The 400 Cross was equally successful in the California desert and Baja under riders like Gunnar Nilsson, J.N. Roberts, Malcolm Smith and Whitey Martino.
Steve McQueen brought it more fame in the movie “On any Sunday” and he is well known for his bare chested jump photo on a 400 Cross on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Steve McQueen purchased this bike new on May 10th, 1970 from Edison Dye, proprietor of Med-International, the ‘Father of American Motocross’ and first and exclusive importer of Husqvarna motorcycles.
The bike is in excellent frame off restored condition and has never been ridden since restoration.
The bike comes with its California DMV Ownership transfer/registration paperwork showing the transfer from Edison Dye’s Med-International to Steve McQueen’s Solar productions.
In addition it comes with the original invoice with a cool typed note that says:
“See Edison on this!!! For Steve!!!”
And then signed by Edison himself.
The bike is sold under a clean Utah Title.
